Municipality is in the joint
pSituated in the northeast of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region,
Chifengart of Inner Mongolia, Hebei
Province and Liaoning Province. The City gets her name "Chifeng"
originated from a red hill standing in the northeast of the
city.

| Basic Situation
Located in semi-arid region in North China, Chifeng
covers a total area of 90,000 square kilometers, in which,
cultivated area is 16 million Mu, grassland 60 million Mu, and
forestry land 54.62 million Mu. In forestry land, forestland
accounts for 17.56 million Mu, open forestland 7.08 million Mu,
shrubland 14.95 million Mu, young plantation 4.51 million Mu,
nursery land 36,000 Mu, and forest suitable land 16.86 million
Mu. The forest coverage is 25.64%. The total area of the two
large sandy land in the Municipality, say Ke'rqin and
Hunshandake, is 40.10 million Mu, out of which, stable sandy
covers 25.78 million Mu, semi-stable sandy land 10 million Mu,
and mobile 4.32 million Mu.

FOREST
TOURISM

| It started late. In 1991,
the first forest park - Hongshan National Forest Park set up
after approved from the State Forestry Ministry. since then,
Chifeng forest parks and forest tourism have developed quickly.
By the end of 2002, 4 national forest parks, namely, Hongshan,
Maanshan, Huanggangliang and Xinglongzhuang, have been
established; and same to another 5 provincial forest parks. The
total area has come to 152,000 ha, 8% of the forest area in the
whole Municipality. Forest tourism has become a new business in
Chifeng Forestry. |

INTERNATIONAL
COOPERATION
|

|
|
|
| Currently, there is only
one foreign project implementing in Chifeng forestry. That is
Sin-German Afforestation Project(SGAP).
